Weather in Iran In terms of weather, the best time to visit Iran is between March to May and September to November. It is nevertheless best to avoid travelling during the following periods: (i) the two weeks surrounding Nowruz, (ii) the ten days prior to Ashura, (iii) and the month of Ramadan. See Holiday & Events for details. Iran is a huge country whose vast central plains are surrounded by mountains. The Iranian plains experience extreme conditions in both summer and winter. The summer is characterised by hot and dry desert-like conditions, while the winter months bring changeable weather which can vary from mild to snow and ice. The most temperate part of Iran is the small region of forest which borders the Caspian Coast. This receives the highest levels of rainfall in the country. In the rest of Iran winter and spring are the rainiest periods.
